Deep South Destinations (January 2018)

In January, I took a four-day weekend and traveled to Mississippi and Lousiana to do some hiking in unique areas I'd recently read about.

Clark Creek Natural Area, a canyon with waterfalls in Southwest Mississippi; and the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness in central Lousiana, featured most prominently in my travels. I also ate some excellent food in Baton Rouge, LA and Natchez, MS, the self-proclaimed biscuit capital of America.

Overall, an excellent trip to states most people wouldn't give a second thought. Let the camera roll!

The elevation in the Kisatchie Hills varies from 120 to 400 feet, a significant elevation change for a state known for its major cities being mostly below sea level.
