The town of Mammoth, the "metropolis" of Yellowstone National Park, is sandwiched between high cliffs and the travertine terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs.
Evidence of once-abundant flow remains etched into the landscape of Mammoth Hot Springs, where terraces can grow and recede with the subtle shifts of the earth underneath this feature.
