Washington Oaks Gardens (August 8, 2020)

This past weekend, my family and I took a trip out to Washington Oaks Gardens in Flagler County, FL. This park has a beautiful rocky beach and is one of only three parks with a rocky beach in Florida. It also has a gorgeous set of gardens and many old live oaks. Overall, it was a wonderful place to take some great pictures.

The rocks on the beach are mostly coquina rock, used in nearby St Augustine to build the famous Castillo de San Marcos. There are some fantastical formations in these photos, such as a natural bridge, several sea arches, a rock formation with "eyes", and some beautifully hued pieces of coquina.

The gardens feature gorgeous flowers, a peaceful pagoda, and a few flowing fountains, some with calcite deposits from the sulfur water that creates the ponds and streams lining the paths. You'll see examples of all of these below.

I hope you enjoy.
