Two Trips to the Mountains (October 2016)

In October 2016, I took two trips up into portions of the Appalachians.

One trip, which took place in early October, was focused almost entirely on hiking to landmarks on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, along with visiting some state parks in the area.

The second trip was a longer trip, and it covered a lot more ground. I visited GA, TN, AL, and MS over the course of approximately 6 days, going to a good mix of state parks, national parks and  national forests. However, many of the waterfalls I wanted to see on this trip were reduced to nothing more than a trickle due to a once-in-a-generation drought that parched the South.

Here's some of the highlights.
