In late May and early June, I spend two weeks at a training called the Wilderness Skills Institute. I slept in a hammock for the duration of the trip, suffering and shivering through a soggy first week that turned into a somewhat more pleasant second week. While I was proud of myself for doing this, I would have much rather had an actual bed to sleep in for the night.
The proximity of the conference site to the Pisgah National Forest and Blue Ridge Parkway really allowed me to maximize my time on the trails and at overlooks. I'm super pleased with all the places I got to go.
North Carolina is the Colorado of the East Coast, and I mean that in the best way possible. Can't wait to be up there again soon.
