In early February, I took a four-day weekend and drove up to North Carolina to see my favorite female folk trio, The Wailin' Jennys, play at Wingate University's Batte Center for the Arts. It was a chilly night, but the Jennys played with such warmth and passion I barely noticed the cold when I stepped outside the music hall.
While that was the main reason for my trip, I also made time to visit several state parks and preserves in Central NC and SC.
