From Yellowstone to the Sunshine State - The Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest

In this installment, I visit the big daddy of the National Park System, the Grand Canyon. After that, I stop by its much less visited cousin, the Petrified Forest.

I didn't cry when I saw the Grand Canyon, as I've heard some people have (looking at you, Collin), but it was an absolutely energizing experience being there.

Here's the highlights.

Hiking down to Skeleton Point on the South Kaibab Trail.

Yucca blooms above the canyon rim.

A raven joins me for a snack.

Looking down on the canyon from ~500 feet below the rim.

The trees descend down the slope to meet the Colorado River.

A commanding view of the Canyon and Colorado River at Hopi Point.

Thousands of feet below, the river continues its course.

The sun sets over the Grand Canyon.

The Colorado River hooks around the canyon's cliffs.

A soothing scene before the shuttle arrives to take us back to the main parking lot.
