Sahara Dust Sunset

This past Sunday, I went to the Gulf of Mexico to see the sunset. I was especially excited because of the hype surrounding how beautiful it was going to be mixed with the Saharan dust currently blowing across the southern portion of the United States. While it was ultimately a little underwhelming, I was glad I went and really enjoyed the long car ride there and back.

Here's some of the sunset snapshots. All photos were taken at Pine Island Beach Park in Hernando County, Florida.

The sunset starts.

Sunlight scatters across the sky.

A flock of birds flies across the horizon.

A swimmer watches the sunset from the water.

Sun, sea, and sky scatter light into several shades of colors.

The setting sun splits this photo in two.

The soft light of the sunset is spellbinding.

One last look before the sun sinks down completely.

A half moon rises over Pine Island's palm trees.
