Natural Tunnel and Hungry Mother State Parks (July 21, 2020)

Continuing with photos of my most recent trip, here's my visit to Natural Tunnel and Hungry Mother State Parks, which took place on the same day. Virginia has a great state park system I would recommend to anyone wholeheartedly. It was probably my favorite state to visit on this trip.

Enjoy the photos!

Natural Tunnel, an ~850 foot tunnel through the rock caused by all-natural processes.
Natural Tunnel State Park, VA

A not-so-natural, but nice tunnel.

The railroad that runs through Natural Tunnel is still active to this day.

Above the rim of the gorge that contains the Natural Tunnel.

Looking out at the surrounding scenery.

After a 1000' climb over the course of two miles, I made it to Molly's Knob.
Hungry Mother State Park, Marion, VA

Molly's Knob is the highest point in Hungry Mother State Park, at 3,207 feet above sea level.

The views from Molly's Knob go on for miles. You can even see
the highest mountain in the state, Mount Rogers, from here!

A pretty panorama from the top of Molly's Knob.
